#3: Compassion in the Form of a New Perspective

Over the past week I have overcome so many of my fears and I credit that to constantly trying to view things from a new perspective.

It seems every time I come across the movie After Earth on television, it’s the scene right before my favorite quote appears. The quote from the movie is as follows:

“Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity. Do not misunderstand me, danger is very real, but fear is a choice.” –Will Smith, After Earth the Movie

This quote speaks volumes to me, because it is my reality. I tell myself that I am not good enough to do something (fear) before I even have the chance to do it. I’ve worked hard over the years and even more so in the past few weeks to show myself compassion by not feeding into the things that amplify my fear- because my fear itself is what my anxiety feeds off of.

I want to challenge you to give yourself a chance before you cut yourself down with fear. You are capable of doing anything that you set your mind to. You are capable of showing yourself compassion, by giving yourself a chance and looking at something from a new perspective in order to gain wisdom that will benefit you in the long run. You are capable of not letting fear ruin your life.

Remember that.
